From idea to startup

The idea for Social Impact Factory was born in 2014 during the Social Enterprise Days. During these days, it became clear that many companies were working on solutions to social issues, but that they still wanted to make a profit from the collaboration between corporates, (semi-)public organizations, and social entrepreneurs.

Vanuit die gedachte is het idee ontstaan om een fysieke hotspot te creëren waar gelijkgestemden iedere dag de kans hebben om actief samen te werken. At the end of 2016, we opened the first Social Impact Factory location in Vredenburg, in the heart of Utrecht. With the goal of offering space for organizations and individuals to collaborate, share knowledge, and innovate in the field of social impact. The Social Impact Factory facilitates meetings, work and conferences for everyone and encourages the growth of a network of members and partners.

We started with a single location at Vredenburg 40 in Utrecht, and have now expanded to three locations spread across Utrecht and Amsterdam. All locations are frequently used as workplaces, meeting places and event venues for various socially engaged organisations. Together, we can make social impact the new normal!

Social Impact Factory

Social Impact Factory was established in 2016 through a collaboration between our founding partners and the Municipality of Utrecht, with the aim of creating the ultimate hotspot for social impact.

Did you know that… the founding partners know each other through the B corp network? This is an international network of organizations (including Tony’s, Danone, Triodos Bank) working together to make social entrepreneurship the new norm.

B corp stands for Benefit Corporation. Companies that are B Corp certified must adhere to specific rules. With every decision they make, they must take into account the impact on their employees, customers, suppliers, society, and the environment. We are proud to say that Social Impact Factory is also a B Corporation!
