About this historic location
Floor plan VredenburgThe Vredenburg location is housed in the former Staffhorst building, also known as the Vinkepand. The building has been a designated national monument of the municipality of Utrecht since 2001, but it was originally built in 1857 as a residential complex with five spacious apartments, ten years after the demolition of the Catharijnepoort. Forty years later, in 1890, the Vinkepand received its first commercial function. Over the years, it has housed several businesses, including a furniture store and a clothing shop. For a long time, the Vinkepand had green tiles on its exterior walls. In 1989, the municipality sold the building to Muziek Staffhorst for just one guilder—with one condition: that Staffhorst would restore the building. Thanks to Staffhorst, the building now has its recognizable look with white walls, which we still see today.
